Late Shri Justice Tej Shankar (1937–2004)

JTS Lex is a dedication to Late Shri Justice Tej Shankar, whose vision, persistence, and resilience are the foundation of our firm. Like Mark Twain quoted, "The secret to getting ahead is simply to begin." He believed in taking a leap of faith to ameliorate the lives of every individual.

Education & Office: Late Shri Justice Tej Shankar was born on April 5, 1937. He completed his Bachelor of Laws degree and qualified for the Provincial Civil Services-Judicial exam (PCS-J) in 1963. He held office as a District Judge from 1986 to 1992. In the year 1992, he was appointed as a Judicial Observer to the dispute of the Babri Masjid by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. His discipline and professionalism further elevated him to hold the office at the High Court of Allahabad in 1994. He was subsequently transferred to the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, District Jabalpur. He retired from the Gwalior bench on 4th April 1999.

Symbolic Roles: On 28th November 1992, he was appointed as a Judicial Observer to the dispute of the Babri Masjid by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, to survey the ground realities in and around Ayodhaya in the days preceding the demolition. After he retired from the High Court, he was appointed as an Insurance Ombudsman for the State of Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Daman & Diu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, etc. He left for the heavenly abode on 8th November 2004.

Dedication: In commemoration, Adv. Prashant Kumar and his team have dedicated the website to his father, Shri Late Tej Shankar, for his exemplary work and contribution in the field of law, and as a nurturing parent and an exceptional father.
